Hugo accepts briefs in all areas of commercial law. He specialises in corporate and commercial disputes, regulatory disputes and investigations, and corporate crime.
Prior to being called to the Bar, Hugo was a Senior Associate at Allens in Sydney. He acted for companies and individuals primarily in the Federal Court and the NSW and Victorian Supreme Courts, including in relation to corporate and shareholder disputes, regulatory investigations and proceedings, banking and financial services law, corporate crime, and competition and consumer law.
Admitted in 2015, Hugo previously practiced at MinterEllison in Sydney and at Linklaters in London, and was a judicial assistant at the High Court of England and Wales. He has taught as a visiting lecturer at the University of Law (London) and tutored on the Commercial Remedies course at the University of Technology, Sydney. He is also a reporter for the New South Wales Law Reports.
Hugo holds a Bachelor of Laws (with Honours) and a Bachelor of Arts from the Australian National University, and a Master of Laws (with Distinction) from the London School of Economics, where he came first in his year amongst other academic prizes.
