Admitted as a solicitor in 2000, Patrick practised for 11 years at Allens Arthur Robinson (now Allens), 10 of them in its litigation and dispute resolution group. Since being called to the Bar in 2011, his practice has continued to focus on commercial litigation but has expanded to include regulatory proceedings with a particular focus on financial services and market misconduct.
Patrick combines intellectual rigour with a practical attitude and a strategic approach to disputes. With his extensive background at a leading law firm, he understands the commercial imperatives of solicitors and clients. He is responsive, flexible and collaborative in the way that he works with those instructing him.
Patrick’s broad experience has been gained acting for clients in diverse industries, including banking and financial services, private equity investment, mining and energy, telecommunications, property development and military procurement. His clients range from major listed companies, government entities and regulators to professional services partnerships and individuals.
Although typically briefed in relation to litigation conducted in the NSW Supreme Court and the Federal Court of Australia, Patrick has appeared in matters conducted in all principal courts in the New South Wales and Commonwealth court systems and enjoys a national practice.
Patrick has been recognised by the Legal 500 Guide to the Australian Bar as a Leading Junior (tier 1) in commercial disputes.
