Alinea Chambers warmly welcomes Hugo Wilesmith as our newest Reader.
Before being called to the Bar, Hugo was a Senior Associate at Allens in Sydney. He acted for companies and individuals primarily in the Federal Court and the NSW and Victorian Supreme Courts, including in relation to corporate and shareholder disputes, regulatory investigations and proceedings, banking and financial services, corporate crime, and competition and consumer law.
Hugo previously practiced at MinterEllison in Sydney and at Linklaters and Fieldfisher in London. He was a judicial assistant at the High Court of England and Wales and has experience as a lecturer and law reporter. He holds a Bachelor of Arts / Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from ANU, and a Master of Laws (Distinction) from the London School of Economics, where he came first in his year.
Hugo accepts briefs in all areas of commercial law, specialising in corporate and commercial disputes, regulatory disputes and investigations, and corporate crime.
