UNSW Masterclass on Proportionate Liability to be presented by Melanie Cairns, Barrister on 15 March 2019

Melanie Cairns will be speaking on the differences that can arise in a proportionate liability defence to professional negligence claims in tort, contract or for misleading conduct.

Melanie considers:

1. The apportionment exception: When can the court order two parties 100% liable for a loss?

2. Can a plaintiff frame their claim to limit proportionate liability exposure (e.g. by seeking relief under s 237 instead of s 236, ACL)?

3. How else may a claim in tort or contract differ from a misleading conduct claim under the Competition and Consumer Act 2010 (Cth) or its analogues?

This seminar is part of The Civil Litigation Masterclass series hosted by UNSW. Attendance will earn 1 point in the substantive law strand. Click here to register, and view the full day program.
